Winter, 1934 "Hollow Earth"

[Depicted in Indiana Jones and the Hollow Earth - the eleventh novel in the series published by Bantam Books, and the third written by Max McCoy- released in 1997]


  • Indy battles the Nazi’s amid a mystery involving a dying Artic explorer and the content of curious wooden box, of which are said to be a slice of Icelandic stone with mythological powers, as well as a journal hinting at the existence of an underground civilization near the apex of the world. Along with Danish scientist, Ulla Tornaes, Indy sets out into the Arctic to search for the lost city, where they will find a portal that leads to a key in Adolf Hitler’s quest for world domination.

  • Ulla Tornaes - named after the real life Danish politician, Ulla Tørnæs, a member of the Danish parliament from 1994 to 2004, who then served as the Minister for Science, Technology, Information and Higher Education in the Lars Løkke Rasmussen II Cabinet of Denmark.

  • Heinrich Himmler -  Reichsführer of the Schutzstaffel (Protection Squadron; SS); one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and a main architect of the Holocaust.

  • Adolf Hitler - Austrian-born German politician who rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party, becoming Chancellor in 1933 and then assuming the title of Führer und Reichskanzler in 1934. During his dictatorship from 1933 to 1945, he initiated World War II in Europe by invading Poland on September 1st, 1939, and then perpetuated the genocide of about 6 million Jews during The Holocaust


  • Locations in this adventure are:


  • Guadalupe Mountains - Mountain range located in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, which includes the highest summit in Texas in Guadalupe Peak, as well as the ‘signature peak’ of West Texas in “El Capitan.” Evidence shows that people lived within caves in the region dating back to 10,000 years ago, while the first Europeans to arrive in the area were Spaniards in the 16th century.  

  • Iceland - a Nordic island in the North Atlantic Ocean, and the least populated country in Europe. Iceland is volcanically active, with land that consists of lava fields, mountains, and glaciers.
