Legacy Track of the Week: Ariana Grande - sweetener

“When life deals us cards, make everything taste like it is salt, then you come through like the sweetener you are, to bring the bitter taste to a halt” The title track off Ariana Grande’s fourth studio album is the best of all of it’s Pharrell produced tracks, of which accumulates to almost half of the album to mostly mixed results. This one is smooth however and Pharrell’s influence is clear, although throughout the album it’s ultimately production by Swedish musician Ilya Salmanzadeh that seems to suit Ariana Grande’s style best.

Ariana Grande - successful

“Tonight, I'm a baller, babe (tonight, I'm a baller, baby), even way beneath it, yeah, oh, woah (even way beneath me), what else is there to say, boy? (What else is there to say, boy?), say, bae, you should play with me, babe” Another Pharrell produced record and his influence is so clear it’s almost hard not to hear his vocals over his writing. All the same, the Italian-American princess complements Pharrell’s production well on this one, easily making it one of the highlights off sweetener.

Ariana Grande - no tears left to cry

“Ain't got no tears in my body, I ran out, but boy, I like it, I like it, I like it” Produced by the aforementioned Ilya Salmanzadeh along with famed producer Max Martin this one is a surefire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 heater. Easily one of the best pop records of the year and a career-defining record for Ariana Grande.

Stefflon Don ft Haile - Favourite Girl

“Money neva buy my favourite girl, sing out you are my favourite girl” UK artist Stefflon Don has just released her second official mixtape Secure, and with fellow UK vocalist Haile this is one of the best crossover records on the tape.

Stefflon Don ft Sean Paul, Popcaan & Sizzla - Hurtin’ Me (The Remix)

“I heard you got a new girlfriend… and it's hurting me…” The best record off Secure is a no-brainer, and thus far Stefflon Don has shined brightest in her career alongside other notable artists, therefore it’s no surprise that this particular record is a surefire heater. This one should be on New York radio immediately if it isn’t already.

Greta Van Fleet - When The Curtain Falls

“Well you’re so pretty and I love you so, you know I’m your biggest fan, I saw your picture and it’s the best, the finest in the land” For those like myself just getting familiar, Greta Van Fleet is an American Rock band from Frankenmuth, Michigan formed in 2012, and after two successful EP’s released in 2017 they are now in a position to bring back interest to an entire genre.

Tyler, The Creator ft Kali Uchis - See You Again

“You live in my dream state, relocate my fantasy… that's the only time we make up, make up, you exist behind my eyelids, my eyelids, now I don't wanna wake up” Visual treatment for one of the best records off Tyler, The Creator’s fourth album Flower Boy.

Logic ft Ryan Tedder - One Day

“And maybe one day I'll be wiser, cause maybe one day I'll be further from here, put all of my faith in tomorrow, dark days keep me up all night, only thing I know, it's gonna be - alright.” 💰💰💰💲💲💲Supposedly made in under 20 minutes this is likely to make all parties involved boatloads of money all through the Winter, Spring, and Fall, as Logic as a brand has become one of the most successful entities in all of music, and with it’s positive message and cookie-cutter winning formula this is a surefire commercial success in every way.

Ari Lennox - Whipped Cream

“I've been eating whipped cream, having vivid dreams, of your face and through people on TV screens” Visual treatment of the latest record from Dreamville’s own Ari Lennox.
