1911, "New Orleans"


  • At some point in 1911 the Jones family visits New Orleans, Louisiana, where they see King Oliver play at Preservation Hall.

  • King Oliver or Joe Oliver was an American Jazz cornet player and a pioneer of the genre, and was the teacher and mentor of Louis Armstrong who once said, “If it wasn’t for Joe Oliver, Jazz would not be what it is today.”
